Rescue
When a dog is welcomed into Sam’s Place, the first priority is to give them a comprehensive health and wellness exam in our intake room. Based upon the findings of this initial evaluation, an overall plan is developed for each dog. We can accommodate dogs that need strict quarantine due to existing health issues, as well as those that need a quiet space to acclimate and decompress, in a loving home environment. Our team works with love and kindness to get to know each dog and find them a loving home or guide them through their hospice journey.
Rehabilitate
After evaluation, each dog at Sam’s Place enters a thorough rehabilitation process based on each individual dog. They relax, settle in, reach a healthy weight, and will have all medical issues addressed. Our team assesses both their physical and mental needs, getting to know each dog’s personality, socialization skills, and comfort level in various situations.

Retrain
We have the opportunity to take the time to assess and really get to know each dog at Sam’s Place. This allows us to identify behaviors or concerns that might need to be worked through before placing them up for adoption. We assess their level of trust, house training, leash walking, socialization, and basic commands. If we encounter any concerns or fears, we commit to a plan of helping that dog work through those behaviors.
Rehome
Once a dog is ready for adoption, their availability is posted on our website, and interested adopters can apply online. We aim to match each dog with a loving home that suits their needs. Some dogs may not be rehomed due to behavior or hospice care needs, and a few will become lifetime residents of Sam’s Place. Whether through adoption or in-house care, we provide each dog with a loving home.
Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole.” – Rodger A. Carr
Responsibility
Everyone involved in Sam’s Place plays an integral role in the success of every dog. From medical care, rehabilitation, grooming, training, to 24 hour on-site monitoring—each dog is given the love and care they deserve.
We welcome other shelters or rescues to reach out for any possible placements. Contact us for more information: dogs available for adoption & how to adopt.
Hospice Care
Our Hospice care for dogs focuses on providing love, comfort, and dignity to senior dogs who may not have much time left. Senior dogs tend not to be adopted, very often leaving them to spend their final days scared and lonely in shelters. We believe every dog deserves to live out the rest of their life in a home-like setting, surrounded by warmth and care. Our hospice program ensures these dogs receive the medical support they need, along with plenty of affection, soft beds, and peaceful surroundings to make their remaining days as joyful and stress-free as possible.

Foster
One of our goals at Sam’s Place is to collaborate with other rescues who may find themselves with too many dogs needing specialized care, or do not have the facilities to care for dogs that may, for various reasons not yet be ready for a new home. We offer foster care for small medical dogs (such as heartworm positive dogs) or those recovering from surgery, that need some longer short term, home type environment in which to recuperate. In addition, we take in mom’s the have had puppies that need a home type of environment to grow and thrive. We wish to support other rescues by providing our facility as a soft landing for these types of cases and then work together to find the dogs a new home where appropriate. While we foster we will also be working on basic training issues, such as housebreaking, assessing how they are with other dogs, food or toy aggression or guarding.
