At Sam’s Place LLC, our goal is to match every dog in our care with a loving, safe, and responsible forever home. To ensure the best possible outcome for both our dogs and adopters, we have established the following structured adoption process. Please review each step carefully before applying.
1. Application Submission
- All interested adopters must complete and submit our online Adoption Application.
- Applications must be filled out honestly, thoroughly, and accurately. Incomplete or false information may result in disqualification.
- Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis, but submission does not guarantee adoption or approval.
- A valid government-issued photo ID must be submitted along with the application.
2. Review & Reference Checks
Upon receipt of your completed application and ID:
- Personal and veterinary references listed on your application will be contacted by our Rescue Administrator.
- Please ensure you inform your references that Sam’s Place LLC may be contacting them. Timely responses from your references help prevent delays in the process.
- If you have current (or recent) pets, we will verify that they are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and receive appropriate care.
3. Site Visit to Sam’s Place (“Meet and Greet”)
- For local applicants, or applicants willing to travel, a one-hour site visit to Sam’s Place LLC will be arranged, if warranted and available. Prior to this visit, you will receive an email with our physical address and a liability form* to complete. *This form must be completed by all visitors.
- This visit allows potential adopters to meet the dog(s), observe our facility, and interact with staff. Please note: Applicants will not leave with a dog at initial site visit.
- Site visits will provide additional information about a potential match and the dog’s behavior in a familiar setting. You can meet multiple dogs at these visits.
- Site visits are by appointment only and are not guaranteed as part of the adoption process. Availability is based on staff scheduling and the dog’s specific needs.
- If applicable, please leave your current pets at home for the initial visit. If adoption process proceeds, subsequent visits can be scheduled to allow pets to meet at our facility.
- After this visit, our team member will submit their findings to the Adoption Committee for review. Some dogs have multiple applicants, so there is much to consider to ensure the best fit. Applicants are encouraged to follow up via email/phone to confirm interest or ask additional questions.
4. Home Visit
Once the Adoption Committee reviews the applicant (and after the site visit):
- A home visit may be scheduled and conducted by two Sam’s Place LLC team members.
- The purpose of the visit is to evaluate the safety, cleanliness, and overall suitability of the environment for the dog you wish to adopt.
- All members of the household (including pets) should be present during the home visit.
- We may also require a meet-and-greet with the dog at your home, depending on the dog’s specific needs.
5. Application Review & Decision
After all steps are completed:
- Your application, reference checks, and home visit findings will be thoroughly reviewed by our Adoption Committee.
- A final decision will be made regarding the approval or denial of the applicant.
- If approved, you will be notified, and arrangements for the adoption day will be made.
- If not approved, we will inform you of the outcome and may suggest next steps or alternative matches, if available.
Important Notes
- Adoption is not guaranteed, even if all steps are completed. Our top priority is the well-being of the dogs in our care.
- Sam’s Place LLC reserves the right to deny any adoption at its discretion, without disclosure of specific reasons.
- We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this detailed process, which is designed to ensure the best fit for both you and our dogs.
